Lisa Marie Humanitarian Scholarship

The Lisa Marie Humanitarian Scholarship Fund was established in 2017, four years
after the creation of Lisa’s Pink Petals of Hope Inc. which is a 501(c)3 non-profit
organization created to serve the needs of individuals and families affected by
breast cancer. The organization was founded as a legacy to Lisa Marie, who lost her
battle with breast cancer in April 2013.
Lisa Marie was a truly inspiring and greatly loved mother, advocate, and
entrepreneur. She began her career, joining the US Army, after high school where
she persuaded her degree in Business and vowed one day to obtain her degree in
Law. After serving several years overseas on assignments, she settled down and
became a stay at home mom to two beautiful daughters. During their tender school
years, she served in several capacities advocating at their local schools PTA’s and
aiding in classroom mentorship. Her background in education and love for others
continued beyond the classroom into youth Sunday school where she served
diligently. After years of traveling and living distance from family, Lisa Marie
relocated back to Florida where she began an insurance career handling auto
claims. Her drive to gain additional knowledge awarded her the opportunity to
become licensed, which advanced her career and reawakened her passion for Law.
While making plans to pursue her dream, Lisa Marie was diagnosed with triple
negative breast cancer and forced to place law school on hold to undergo treatment.
Although this was a personal setback, Lisa Marie did not allow it to diminish her love
for others and became an advocate; creating information packets from her research
on topics supporting various types of breast cancers, new clinical trials and patient
rights as survivors. Additionally, Lisa Marie co-founded A New You, Pink Boutique
which provides essential garments and support to women recovering from breast
cancer surgery and treatment.

While Lisa Marie continued holding on to her faith and sharing her gift to others, her
cancer returned and she passed away on April 8, 2013, at the age of 48.
Today her legacy continues to impact others through A New You Pink Boutique,
Lisa’s Pink Petals of Hope and The Lisa Marie Humanitarian Scholarship award
dedicated to both her profession and community service.
